Things to See + Do on Mount Rainier in Pierce County Washington
Whether you’re an avid hiker or prefer to view vistas by car, you’ll find the Mount Rainier area offers no end of scenic routes. You can hike the 95-mile Wonderland Trail completely around “The Mountain” or see some of the same magnificent scenery from Highway 410, designated a National Scenic Byway.
Watch for cascading waterfalls, especially during the spring melt. Seek out the best places to view meadows of avalanche lilies, Indian paintbrush and other alpine wildflowers. Tread quietly, and you may come upon grazing deer and curious marmots and picas. Visit picture-perfect Reflection Lake for that “postcard” photo op.
Enjoy winter’s snow-covered version of Rainier’s beauty on cross-country skis or snowshoes. The road to Paradise is kept plowed and open year-round. So whatever the season, visit Mount Rainier and the activities it has to offer.
