Visit Mount Rainier, the tallest volcano in the lower 48 states.
Take one of the many day hikes from nearly any point in the park, or trek a portion of the 93-mile Wonderland Trail which loops around Mount Rainier.
See alpine meadows filled with wildflowers in July and August. Watch for waterfalls and wildlife such as deer, picas and birds. From Paradise [5,500 feet elevation], hike the short distance to the impressive Nisqually Glacier overlook.

Reached from the southwest Nisqually entrance, Paradise and Longmire both have visitor information centers; the National Inn at Longmire currently offers the only accommodations within the park. Sunrise, on the east side of the mountain, also has a day visitor center.
Mountain-top dining and spectacular views of the Cascade Range turn this mountain into a summer oasis. And at 6,400 Ft., Sunrise is the highest point you can drive to in the park.

Explore the national park on cross-country skis or snowshoes. Take the kids sledding and inner-tubing at the Snowplay Area at Paradise.
Enjoy downhill skiing and snowboarding at Crystal Mountain, just north of the park. Ride the four high-speed chair lifts, including one to a 7,000-foot high restaurant with breathtaking views of Mount Rainier. This ski resort was rated as one of the top 10 Best Resorts for Backcountry Access in the U.S. by SKIING Magazine.
